As most of you know, I have an almost 3 year old son (If you’re new to the blog, click here to Meet the Minis). Watching him grow every day has been an amazing experience. I’m aware he is getting older but a couple days ago, I was reminded just how quickly it’s happening.
These pictures were taken a year apart. Looking at them, I can’t understand how in 365 days, my little boy has changed so much. He surprises me every day with how smart he is and constantly leaves me wondering, “How does he know that?”
Time is flying. Which made me realize education needs to be more of a focus for us. I mean, he speaks very well (and A LOT). He’s got colors and some numbers down, he knows some Spanish, things like that. But since we aren’t putting him in preschool, I need to start getting him ready for Kindergarten. It’s right around the corner and that terrifies me!
So of course, I researched like crazy. After following tips from Mom Inspired Life on assessing my son’s learning style and a trip to the dollar store (Dollar Store Deals for Preschool), I came up with 10 activities to kick off our preschool adventure.
- Letter of the Week
- Nature Scavenger Hunt
- Snack Math for Preschoolers
- Pre-Handwriting Practice Pages
- Piggy Bank Coin Recognition
- DIY Balance Scales
- DIY Photo Name Puzzle
- Color Wheel
- Fingerprint Counting
- Beginner Name Writing Practice
I am so excited to begin! I don’t think he will have a problem with most of these, but I want to ease him into having more structure (because our life is anything but). As we progress, I’ll be able to really sit down and come up with our own curriculum.
